Acknowledging the importance of collective cooperation to deal with the climate crisis, I have recently opened Climaero_, an Instagram page that features 4 free and easy challenges per week. Those challenges are simple actions everyone, regardless of their age or location, can take to help address climate change, such as not using plastic for a day, having a 10-minute talk with a child to raise awareness on the issue… On our social media, we strive to get a large group of people to participate in our challenges, and on the page we also highlight fundraising campaigns for climate change and other pressing issues such as world hunger. Donating is not part of the challenges, but it allows those with financial means to further help people and causes in need.
In this workshop participants will learn more facts about climate change, like how much harm it can cause in terms of health and the economy, raising awareness and encouraging people to take action. Participants will have the opportunity to share their stories about how they have felt the consequences of climate change and we will have a conversation on how we can address said problems. Participants will be encouraged to implement the challenges presented on my page and the solutions mentioned in the workshop in their communities. Finally, by the end of this workshop, they will have enhanced their communication, motivation, and problem-solving skills.
My name is Noor Al-Zubi, I live in Jordan, a student in ModernMontessoriSchool. I have 5 MUN experiences, one of which has been chair, 3 of the 5 have been with MUN Impact. Although Climaero_ Instagram page is my first official action towards the SDGs, I am highly interested in the SDGs and want to further help address such pressing issues in university as I want to study politics.
