My workshop aligning with the theme: Earth will mainly focus on marine pollution and ways & means of reducing marine pollution. Marine pollution is a growing problem in today’s world. Our ocean is being flooded with two main types of pollutants: chemicals and trash. Today, we need to look no further than the New Jersey-size dead-zone that forms each summer in the Gulf-of-Mexico, or the thousand-mile-wide belt of plastic trash in the northern-Pacific Ocean to see this once flourishing ocean ecosystem on the brink of collapse. This workshop would focus on current methods of marine pollution such as the fire at the pearl-express vessel, etc. and how we can avoid marine pollution and spread awareness as youth through various methods as organizing envithorons, marine-protection campaigns, etc

I’m Amaya Ranatunge a 17-year-old high school student from Sri Lanka. I’ve been doing MUN for 5 years and I have taken part in MUN Impact for nearly 1 year now. I’m currently enrolled in many MUNI programs as MUNI Global,100K deeds campaign, StartupSherpa project, MUN@home, community magazine, etc. As a youth activist, I’m hoping to make a positive impact on marine pollution through this workshop.
