In this workshop, participants will learn how to fill in the disconnect of MUN clubs between international schools, local schools and local communities, as well as how to better embrace SDG initiatives by collaborating with your local community through club partnerships, community services, co-hosting conferences, outreach to organizations, and SDG workshops. Participants will learn a variety of skills, including communication, creating initiatives and community support. At the end of the presentation, participants will be able to replicate a similar initiative to connect international and local schools through various different collaboration methods as listed above.
My name is Andrew Yuan (he/him/his), a student currently living in Shanghai, China but attends Phillips Exeter Academy as a freshman. I am a North American regional diplomat serving for MUN Impact, which I joined a year ago. I have done MUN for two years now and I really enjoy how you can feel the uniting force of global young leaders in discussing how to improve our world.
My name is Issa Al Saleh. I am a senior in high school at the American School of Kuwait. I have been participating in MUN for four years, and have attended over 25 conferences as a delegate, a chair, and an organizer. I am also a mentor and diplomat for MUN Impact. Outside of MUN, I work in Collective Impact toward education reform, so it’s likely unsurprising that I am particularly concerned with SDG 4: Quality Education
My name is Karim Shabaan and I am a second-year IB student from Cairo, Egypt. I have been doing MUN for five years and have always been passionate about working toward the UN SDGs. I serve as a diplomat for the MENA region as well as the mentor for MUN@home at MUNImpact.
