What is Human Trafficking and what are some of its impacts on society? We look at some efforts that have been put forth in combating this issue and which SDGs in particular work towards addressing this issue. We look more deeply into one particular effort or campaign launched to address this issue: The Blue Heart Initiative.

We will see how Lebawi Academy MUN (LIAMUN) has worked to support the cause of this initiative: the goals we hoped to meet by taking on this project and the actions we took to accomplish these goals. We look at the importance of partaking in projects that aim to combat such issues. We will share and investigate the process of achieving collaborations with such initiatives from the beginning. We will analyze how effective we were as a team in accomplishing the projects, the improvements that could be made on how we undertook the project, and steps you could take to participate in such activities.

My name is Sophia Jemal. I am 15 years old and I live in Addis Ababa. I have been participated in MUN clubs for 1 years. In the first year of my MUN experience I have participated in MUN conferences in my school with my friends and proposed possible solutions for global problems like global warming and Terrorism. As a future generation and citizen of the world I am starting different initiatives that can help rise awareness in the society about the SDGs and solve global problems.

I am Yeabfikir Ayele. I’m a senior at Lebawi Academy. I have participated as a delegate in many conferences including THIMUN Qatar. I was the chair of the SC for the annual MUN conference at Lebawi Academy. I was an MUN instructor.  I participated in the Blue Heart Initiative by submitting an art piece. I am currently part of a project launched by LIAMUN and Open Pages (a children’s library) looking to present the 17 SDGs in the form of story books and comic books for children.
